The fiery red chilli, a staple in every Indian kitchen, is now fueling rural growth in Karnataka’s Ballari district. Under the guidance of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, new agro-processing and farmer training centres have been established through MPLADS funding across the Kalyana Karnataka region.

In Ballari, the spotlight is on chilli processing — producing high-quality chilli flakes and chilli powder with a capacity of 250 kg per hour. These modern facilities not only enhance product value but also open new income avenues for local farmers.

By transforming raw produce into market-ready goods, farmers gain better prices, reduced waste, and access to broader markets. Beyond processing, these centres also offer training programs, ensuring farmers are equipped with skills in packaging, branding, and business development.

This initiative marks a significant step toward self-reliant rural economies, turning Ballari’s spice fields into hubs of innovation and opportunity. The humble chilli is no longer just a crop — it’s becoming a symbol of empowerment for Karnataka’s farmers. 🌾🔥
